The Types of Hair You Should and Should Not Be Plucking

Hair, we all have it.

Every single person has facial and body hair, but sometimes we don’t want it. Tweezing, otherwise known as plucking, is a quick and mostly painless way to remove hairs by yourself. It’s as easy as owning a pair of tweezers, finding stray hair, and pulling it out of your body and life. It almost sounds too good to be true, and, in some cases, it is. The good thing is that sugaringLA has mapped what hairs you should and shouldn’t pluck.

Facial Hair

Eyebrows

Although most of us pluck our eyebrow hairs, it’s recommended that you only do so once in a while. Relying on tweezers to maintain your brows can lead to overplucking, which permanently damages the already sensitive hair follicles if removed in the wrong direction. In extreme cases, overplucking can also permanently stop the growth of your natural eyebrow hairs. Most specialists recommend trimming or sugaring your eyebrow hairs instead because it’s a lot safer.

Beard Hairs

Similar to eyebrows, beard hairs are fragile, and the skin underneath becomes damaged when you pluck instead of trimming, shaving, or sugaring. It can be dangerous if the individual has a cross network root system. Fortunately, sugaring the jaw line is highly recommended.

There’s even an area on the face known as ‘the triangle of death,” that goes from the bridge of your nose down to the corners of your upper lip. Although plucking hairs in this triangle won’t kill you as the name suggests, it can cause infections that are worse than getting a cut on your knee.

Grey Hairs

Reaching for your tweezers at the sight of random grey hairs might be tempting, but slow your roll. Not only can it damage your scalp, but it can also ruin your hair’s natural texture and it’s painful because they have a thicker root. If you don’t want grey hairs on your head, professionals recommend going to  a hairdresser for a cut. Then you can say goodbye to grey hairs for a while.

Ingrown Hairs

Although ingrown hairs are downright awful, use all of your will-power to put down the tweezers when you spot one. Plucking these pesky beasts can lead to scarring or infection, which nobody wants. Instead, apply a warm compress and try sugaringLA’s popular Hemp’ful Healer serum made to balance your skin’s oil production as well prevent ingrown hairs.

A Better Solution Than Plucking

Sugaring

Although plucking away unwanted face and body hair is convenient, it’s typically pretty harmful.

Plucking or tweezing is time consuming and only invasive if removed in the wrong direction which can deform and tear the hair follicle. Tweezing hair grows back the same as sugaring if pulled from the root. People tend to break their hair when tweezing.

Doctors, dermatologists, and specialists recommend trimming or sugaring unwanted hairs instead because it’s far less invasive than tweezing. Plus, sugaring lasts up to 4-6 weeks, whereas plucked hairs will grow back in less than a week.
